Cooking Instructions: Stove Top: 1. Bring water (or milk) and salt to a boil in a medium saucepan. 2. Stir in oats; reduce heat to medium low. 3. Simmer uncovered 25 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until liquid is absorbed and oats are tender. 1 Serving: 1-1/2 cups water (or milk); 1/4 cup steel cut oats; dash salt (optional). 2 Servings: 2 cups water (or milk); 1/2 cup steel cut oats; 1/8 tsp salt (optional). 4 Servings: 4 cups water (or milk); 1 cup steel cut oats; 1/4 tsp salt (optional). 6 Servings: 6 cups water (or milk); 1-1/2 cup steel cut oats; 1/4 tsp salt (optional). Microwave: 1. Mix 1/2 cup of steel cut oats with 2 cups of water in an 8 cup microwave-safe bowl (the size of the bowl is important as it must be large enough to allow the oats to bubble up without spilling over). Cover and microwave at full power for 5 minutes. 2. Stir and finish cooking for another 5 minutes (as microwave vary in size and power, cooking times may need to be adjusted). Caution: Product and container may be hot. For thicker oatmeal use less water. For thinner oatmeal use more water. Store at ambient temperatures.
